  • Distance learning students are required to travel to the school for their skills after or before completing their online portion.

CLINICAL MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Admission Requirements

  • Must be 16 years or older. 
  • State Issued ID card from any State, Passport, Green card or Driver’s License
  • Social Security Card
  • High school diploma or unofficial high school transcript, GED, College Diploma or unofficial College transcript is required.
  • High School diploma/GED/ College Transcript requirement can be WAIVED if you can display an 8th grade level reading and writing capability. 
  • International high schools and colleges accepted
  • We offer a payment plans to all students. Installments are paid in 5 to 10 installments before completion of the program. 
  • No Immunizations are required
  • A TB test and Immunizations are NOT required 
  • Uniforms/Scrubs  are also not required at this time. Please dress casually and  comfortably for school.

What is a CCMA ?

 

  • Certified clinical medical assistants make a difference every day
  • Medical assistants (MAs) are critical members of healthcare teams in a variety of medical settings. As an MA, you are often the first and last person a patient interacts with, making a lasting impact on the patient experience. 
  • A clinical medical assistant is a multi-skilled allied health care professional that specializes in procedures commonly performed in the ambulatory health care setting. Medical assistants perform both clinical and administrative duties and assist a variety of providers including physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. 
  • They typically work in medical offices, clinics, urgent care centers and may work in general medicine or specialty practices. Having a nationally accredited certification, like the CCMA, can help you stand out. Certification may also be required or preferred for certain job opportunities in the profession.
  • Many organizations are now offering career laddering opportunities for medical assistants with elevated responsibilities and pay. Elevated roles may include those of a scribe, health coach, patient navigator, population health manager and patient care coordinator.

Common duties of a medical assistant include administrative and clinical tasks, including:

 

  • Checking patients in and out upon arrival and departure
  • Answering phone calls and questions
  • Assisting providers with exams and procedures
  • Administering injections or medications
  • Working in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Performing EKG, phlebotomy, and laboratory procedures
  • Taking patient vital signs

Distance Learning

Daytime In Person Classes

 We start a new class every Monday and every other Saturday. 

 

  • Weekday Classes. Monday to Friday. 9:30am to 3:30pm (3wks)
  • Weekend Classes. Saturday & Sunday 9:30am to 5:30pm (6wks)
  • Accelerated Classes. Mon to Fri 9:30am to 3:30pm in addition to Sat/ Sun 9:30 to 5:30 pm for 14 days straight. (2 weeks)

Evening Classes

Continuing Education

  • CCMA's are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
  • Proof of continuing education is required to apply for license renewal with the state.
  • You will need to submit your continuing education certificate to the state when applying for license renewal.

  • Proof of employment is required for license renewal and proof of continuing education.

  • At Legacy Career Institute we offer a variety of schedule options that students can choose from to achieve a comfortable work- life- school balance. Our students attend class 2 to 7 days per week. They are able to complete the program in 2 to 6 weeks.

 You must be 16 years or older to enroll in our programs. Student between 16 and 18 years of age, can enroll with a parent or guardians’ permission. 


  • We have a 98 % pass rate for the state and national licensing exams. Students and the state have ranked us one of the best trainings schools in the state of Texas.
  •  We understand how important it is for students to be prepared for their state exams. That’s why we offer a variety of state exam preparation resources. We help you succeed on your exam so that you can begin your career in healthcare. Our experienced healthcare professionals help all our students understand the material and prepare for the exam. 


 Uniforms and scrubs are NOT required at this time.  Student can dress comfortably and casually for school. 


 Legacy Career Institute does not have any vaccination or Immunization requirements. 


  • $125. 
  • Student will pay this directly to the State Assessment service afer the completion of the CNA program.
  • It is a one-time exam and licensing fee for the lifetime of the license
  • There is no licensing fees or cost to renew your license every 2 years.


  • Students are able to get licensed with DUI and Misdemeanors on their record.
  • Prospective students cannot have any child abuse, domestic abuse, drug felonies or patient care abuse charges on their record. Neither can they  have licenses in other states that have been canceled or revoked for work place misconduct or patient care abouse.
