The Advance Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) class by the American Heart Association (AHA) is intended for medical professionals who supervise or take part in the resuscitation of patients during a medical emergency. 

The ACLS & PALS class teaches healthcare professionals advanced modalities used in treating adult cardiac arrest victims as well as other cardiopulmonary crises. 

These classes build on the Basic Life Support (BLS) skills and teaches licensed professionals how to use cardiac medications, EKG rhythm identification and proper use of artificial airways in the resuscitation process.

Why Is Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification Important?

The ACLS class is built around actual medical simulations that promote interactive, hands-on engagement via training stations where students can put key skills to the test independently, as a member of a group, and as a group leader. These practical scenarios help to strengthen important skills, including: 

• Competence in Basic Life Support (BLS) treatment
• Detecting and starting early treatment of peri-arrest circumstances
• Handling cardiac arrests
• Recognizing and managing ischemic chest pains and severe coronary syndrome
• Identifying other various life-threatening medical scenarios such as strokes and administering preliminary care 
• ACLS algorithms and EKG rhythms 
• Efficient resuscitation group interactions

To complete this class, students will need to show that they are proficient in a range of competencies in addition to passing a written examination. Before registering for the ACLS class, it is required for the student to be BLS certified.

Any Healthcare Provider who is BLS Certified can take this course. That includes CNAs, Phlebotomists, LVNs, Registered Nurses, Paramedics, EMTs, Fire fighters and anyone that desires to increase their knowledge on advanced cardia resuscitation. 

 ACLS and PALS certificates are good for 2 years. 

Student must attend a renewal class every 2 years.  In the refresher course, we go over EKG rhythms , AED use,  Defibrillator use, cardiac resuscitation medication, intubation, manual ventilation and practical patient care scenarios.
